The Lapka Family in El Salvador

We arrived back to El Salvador on January 15, 2019, running full out! The girls starting school on the 21st. Charis is in 9th grade and Kaelyn is in 6th grade. Ron was back to El Salvador ahead of us to help lead up the ACOP Central America Congress held in Guatemala City at Pastor Rudy and Argentina Reyes’ church January 10-13th. This was the 5th Congress to date and God is doing wonderful things among the leadership to build relationships and vision for the future. In attendance were ACOP pastors, leaders and members from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. We also hosted a missions team from Light House Church, Wisconsin in February. As a family, we continue to disciple and love people in strategic ways.

Teaching, preaching, supporting, leading, being a help in times of need and participating in Kingdom living on a daily basis. Thank you to those who partner with us enabling us to be your hands and feet in Central America.

Many of you are making a difference in a child’s life by helping them stay in school. We work as a bridge between the community and the church in the School Scholarship Program. God is changing communities one child at a time and you are right there. Thank you! Here is a quote from a USAID 2019 publication, “Many children and adolescents living in El Salvador face enormous vulnerabilities associated with high rates of crime and gang violence including poor quality education, exclusion from secondary education, early pregnancy and limited employment opportunities. School desertion rates are very high and are impacted by insecurity. Only about 50 per cent of youth attend early secondary school (7th-9th grades), and only half of these go on to complete high school. There are over 300,000 youth aged 15 to 24 that neither study nor work. El Salvador has the highest homicide rate in the world for youth under the age of 19.” We work together with you the local church and the community to begin making a change. Changes that have spiritual and practical goals.

January 10-13th 2019 The 5th Congress of ACOP Central America was hosted in Guatemala City by Rudy & Argentina Reyes’ Church. Church pastors and members/leaders from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua were present. It was a time of friendship, ministry and planning for future projects. Next Congress to be hosted by Chanmico Church San Salvador in August 2019.

February 14-21 2019 Together with the San Juan Buena Vista (Jutiapa) Church of Arnoldo and Lilian Cordero, we hosted a team from Light House Church from Wisconsin. They worked alongside Guatemalans to begin the building for this church plant and ministered together with the family in Christ. This new church is located in “Quebrada Seca” – Dry Gulch. Nothing dry about the Spirit here! God is building His church.
