Dear ACOP Family,

Where we are in Mexico, the holiday season extends to the Day of the Kings, on January 6th. Family and friends will get together to remember the day the wise men gave gifts to Jesus. Before the children go to bed, they place their old shoes outside the door and wake up to enjoy the gifts that were placed in them.

Part of the get-together on the 6th includes sharing a delicious traditional bread called “Rosca de los Reyes.” And our Christmas celebration would not be complete without “Buñuelos,” a sweet made of cornflour dough rolled out similar to a tortilla, fried, and topped with sugar. We first tasted “Buñuelos” made by the Director´s wife at the Rio Bravo, Mexico Bible School in 1980—a favourite ever since!

What brings us JOY here in Mexico is being able to give to others—food for the Bible School students (who often arrive at class directly from work and have not eaten). Doing laundry and mending for an elderly retired School teacher. Money, and food for security guards, people on the streets, and in parking lots.

Of course, our biggest joy is sharing the salvation Scriptures!

“Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Gloly to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:13,14

It is a time of joyful praise to God for His love and a celebration of our salvation through Jesus.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.”

Lamentations 3:22-24

We will be traveling out of the country to renew our visas for Mexico—and request prayer that we will be sensitive to God´s Spirit as He directs us to share His love with people. We want to share with kind and encouraging words, helping the poor and needy along the way, sharing God´s hope with those filled with fear and suffering hardship, inconvenience, and illness because of Covid.
