In Global Stories

Greetings to everyone in Jesus’ Name!

It is a joy to serve the Lord here in Ecuador. We are so grateful for each of you; for your prayers, encouragement, and support. Thank you!

News from Olmedo

Olmedo is a small town of approximately 1500 people.

Jesus transformed Mayra’s life six years ago, about a year after we began sharing the gospel in the town of Olmedo.

Last year, with the help of funds from Global Harvest “Ecuador Children Discipleship Project” Mayra (and some helpers), began weekly meetings for children.

This year we were able to provide Mayra with everything needed to run a 12-week course called: “The Great Adventure”, by “Samaritan’s Purse.” For twelve weeks, Mayra travelled to small communities surrounding Olmedo, to teach children. In order to reach some communities, Mayra had to walk up to 1 ½ hrs each way, as there was no transportation.

Another lady, Anita, (who, along with her husband Clever, came to faith in Jesus about a year after we began in Olmedo), also taught “The Great Adventure” to a group of children. In all, 74 children graduated from “The Great Adventure” (La Gran Aventura).

Each child that graduated was given a certificate, a New Testament, and a ” Christmas Box” (supplied by Samaritan’s Purse), followed by a meal.

We are really excited to see God use fairly new disciples to begin discipling others and to organize the above outreach event! Letty and I mostly just supply necessary materials, attend, pray, and share a few words. In the past, we had only been able to reach a handful of parents and children in Olmedo.

Many there have been opposed to the gospel, even to the extent of several refusing to rent facilities to us to hold services. And then Mayra came in contact with the owner of the building, who is allowing us to use it for free. Not only that, but the owner (a non-believer), told his neighbors, that they need to come to our service. As a result, the owner and his wife and the neighbor and his wife all came and said they all want to continue attending.

Praise the Lord for the breakthrough!

(Please understand that our turnout was a special outreach. Our normal attendance is still small. But please join us in prayer that, as the seed keeps being sown, many more will come to be true followers of Jesus.)

We plan to send more news shortly on what the Lord has been doing in Pindal and Alamor.

Please continue to hold us and these three communities in Prayer.
