Christmas is egg nog, a Christmas Eve Service, an orange in the toe of our stockings, basking in the warmth of family and friends, twinkle lights, and time spent reading the Christmas story in the Bible.
What Christmas treat would you like to find in your stocking on Christmas morning?
We would all love to find the candy canes we so lovingly packed from Canada.
Unfortunately, the heat got to them before we did and they turned into sticky messes of melted sugar.
Christmas usually involves good food! Tell us about a shared meal with someone…
We’ve been learning to eat with our hands when we eat with locals. But, just the right hand. The left is considered unclean so we try and remember to sit on it so we aren’t tempted to use it! We all dig into a big plate of shared rice mixed with meat and vegetables and try to squeeze it into little balls so we can get most of it into our mouths.
What is the ugliest Christmas ornament you’ve ever seen?
Is there such a thing? Only beautiful ones come to mind. No ugly ones in our house!
Can you tell us about something that brings you HOPE?
Revelation 5:9—“And they sang a new song, saying: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
We serve the only One who is worthy and one day peoples from every tribe and language will be worshiping Him before the throne. It’s all worth it!
How do you keep Christ in Christmas?
Because we have received the greatest Gift, we try and make Christmas about sharing Him with others. Whether it is opening our home and sharing a meal, giving meaningful gifts, or spending time as a family reading the Christmas story from the Bible, we want our lives to point to Jesus at every opportunity.
Why was baby Jesus called Saviour? (Luke 2:11)
The angels knew who He was and were the first on earth to declare His glory. The long-awaited Messiah, the One who would save people from their sins, had been born and they couldn’t hold back!
What is your Christmas miracle?
After jumping from country to country and house to house over the last year and a half, we will finally have a place to call home once again. We are excited to move before Christmas and be set up in our own house to celebrate this year.
Thinking back over the year, what has been the stand-out Word from God that keeps showing up in your life?
Obedience. Sometimes things don’t make sense or go the way we thought they would. But, as long as we keep coming back to what the Lord has spoken and know that we are following Him in obedience, we are in the right place.
We might not have many of the answers or know where it all leads, but we can have the assurance that He is the One leading and He is good. It is enough.
Is there someone that you would like us to pray for over Christmas?
Please pray for believers around the world who are persecuted, separated from family, or facing hardship.
We have such a big, worldwide family and it’s so easy to forget about the ones we don’t see. Pray for God’s Presence and Blessing over them this Christmas. May they know Him in a deeper, more intimate way.
