As we pass the one-and-a-half-year mark of living in Eastern Africa; we wanted to send a little update from our family, sharing our latest news and things you can pray for as we transition from the busyness of summer into the routines of fall.
First of all—praise! We’ve been praying for connection, not only for us but for our kids. There is now a youth group going on in our community and our kids are feeling connected, an answer to prayer.
The indigenous church—is growing! We have a few men going through different things, different phases in their lives, being persecuted for becoming believers, and a 9th brother just got baptized. They are all getting trained and discipled. It’s been an amazing journey and even though there is a lot of chaos around these brothers they are looking to the Lord for all their answers.
This past summer we were busy with hosting teams and visitors, it’s been fun to pour into those from different countries, to see some experience the call of God on their lives to serve in the way we do—the next generation of disciples. How exciting!
What’s next? Tom will be teaching another English class, but it seems to be more than a language class. The connection with youth and young adults facilitates becoming a role model or father figure for many.
Our family continues to learn the local language—going deeper and different parts of the language. It’s helping us to live and thrive in this community. Our neighbours know us as “The Foreigners”, but we’re looking forward to continuing our relationship with all of them. We pray for them and ask you to join us in praying for our community here. We want to see people come to Jesus, to disciple well, and to shine well. We want their heart language to fully understand the message of the Kingdom. We’re also praying for sisters and whole families to come to faith.
Thanks for your prayers, your support, and for writing to us. We pray abundant blessings over you today as you love and follow Jesus, for He alone is worthy! We are working together for one kingdom!
Much love,
