“How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord of Heaven’s armies. I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God.”

Psalm 84:1-2

September 20, 2022 marks one year since we left Canada and arrived here in our new home in the Middle East.  A year full of God’s goodness and His provision of 10 different places to live.

In December 2022 we were denied residency, a real disappointment to us with many questions of what is next.  Although we are among many who have been denied first-time residence, we are happy to say that in March 2023 we have one new team member who received their new residency with a language learning visa.

As of March 2023, we received our ‘APPROVAL’ for a one-year residency here on the island near the country. We are thrilled and appreciate the ‘settled’ season, although it may be brief. The island is a self-declared state recognized only by the country while the world denies its existence. But being here provides us the opportunity to continue learning language and culture.

This fall we are looking forward to four team members joining us on this Island to proclaim the Good News Jesus Christ. It’s predominantly Muslim with much darkness of new age and trafficking with its growing casino industry.

“In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

Earthquake update:

Wendell was able to visit the earthquake zone this past August with two other team members.  This picture shows that in August there is much work still to be done.

Also pictured (below) is one of the seven shelters the team built in a day alongside Moldavians and Germans. It is so encouraging to see people from various countries still helping! Although the work continues, there are many people still without homes.

As fall and winter approach, there is an urgency to provide more significant shelters than the tents they are in now. The earthquake has long since faded from the interest of global media. The official death toll remains at 55,000 but unofficially many imagine that number to be up to one million lost lives. So much loss and mental stress.

The church has stepped up to lead during this crisis and their testimony is shining bright!

Pilgrim Prayer

I am not in control
I am not in a hurry
I walk in faith and hope
I greet everyone with peace
I bring back only what God gives me.

—Murray Bodo; Prayers for Pilgrims

The Pilgrim’s journey leads us up and into God Himself! He is our destination! He is Zion.

The New Heaven and Earth are impressive because the Pilgrim’s King is at its center! Not because of its building materials. Nothing in this world should be comfortable until we enter those gates. We are not citizens of this world but His! This journey leads us not through earthly things but through the lives of people. We are wandering pilgrims through the ‘peoples’ of the earth. On our way to God Himself, we journey through the unreached.

Use us Lord of Heaven’s armies to bring your revelation to the 7,425 unreached groups remaining.

PRAY for:

1. Creativity and resources for this country’s believers as they lead in the rebuilding of the many communities devastated by the earthquake.
2. Continued physical strength and safety for your team as they continue providing long-term earthquake relief.
3. New team members arriving and obtaining residency on the island.
