Since arriving on the island 20 months ago, the team we joined has been in a season of transition. Leadership has now officially been handed over to a new couple and we are excited for the renewal of vision and fresh passion that we are all feeling. We wouldn’t be here without the years of dedication, prayer, and hard work that has come before us, and we are standing on the shoulders of many Greats.
As a team, we have reaffirmed our vision to see the indigenous church planted among the people and are clarifying what that looks like and each person’s role in the process. There is a lot of work to be done, but God is on the move and we are excited to be here for such a time as this!
Along with continuing to disciple our 9 local brothers, we are believing for an increase in families and women coming to faith. We are working on translating discipleship materials to have a broader resource base and continue to identify People of Peace within our communities.
No great disciple movement in history has happened without prayer and we are dedicating ourselves once again to focus upwards before we look outwards. Please join us in both praying and living out these verses in Colossians…
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”Colossians 4:2-6
Please continue to pray for our local brothers and the growing church that is rising up, for our many relationships that we continue to share through, and for God to receive the glory He deserves from this area. We are waiting in eager expectation to see what only He can do, using us as His hands and feet to hasten the day of His return.
- As for our family—our son just turned 7 and had a great time celebrating with family and friends.
- “A” has turned into a voracious reader and is tearing her way through books.
- “S” continues to co-lead worship during our team meetings.
- Tom is almost done teaching another two-month English class and we’ve been able to have many of his students in our home.
- I’m in the middle of a Kairos course, an amazing course about “aligning your life with God and his mission”. I highly recommend it!
