During a prayer time at the ACOP Conference in 2022, the guest speaker prophesied over us, saying the Lord gave him the word “random.” Our hearts began to sink!

We’d sold our house in 2020 believing that God had told us to. It went against our preferences and investment wisdom, but long ago we determined to say ‘yes’ to God no matter the cost or our incomprehension. After waiting on God for direction, we were preparing to return to France to revive a movement that alongside another pastor, we had ‘seeded’ in 2016. 

Our journey often felt random—Burkina to France, France to Canada, Canada back to France…

Then the speaker explained the prophetic meaning: what appears random to us has been the Lord’s precise direction for specific assignments. 

This last June, as our plane approached Québec City, we looked out at a place of former assignment we’d come to love. Both our kids got engaged here. God developed our mobilizer DNA and grew that ministry here. And He’s given us wonderful brothers, sisters, sons and daughters here. 

Today, we embrace God’s unique direction for our lives and understand Luke 18:29-30 in a very personal way: “Everyone who has given up house, brothers, parents or children for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over in this life.“
