Disciples who make disciples.
We closed the book on a season of training and learning. We were among a group of 8 young people, all figuring life out in Africa, but connected by the same heart for reaching the unreached. That was something special for sure!
We offered to drive one of the team vehicles up to a conference we had planned to attend. That in and of itself was an adventure in every sense of the word! Driving on that highway is absolutely not for the faint of heart; it’s a 2-lane highway where people are constantly overtaking each other into oncoming traffic.
Semi-trucks swerve into the ditch to avoid an oncoming over-taker coming towards them as if it’s normal. I was white-knuckled 95% of the time, and E spent a good amount of time with a sleep mask over her eyes as an escape from the tense moments.
Halfway through the road trip, we stopped for the night in a Game Park. Most of the popular African animals were in the area, but we didn’t see anything more than some monkeys, dikdiks, and a bunch of birds.
A week later, we landed in our field of service. The Lord has prepared and provided for us—we already have a car and a home. Our Team Leaders offered us lots of time to transition into life, which enabled us to settle into our home and our neighborhood without a big rush to things.
As we have transitioned into our final location over the last month, it has been a blessing to come in with the language and a bit more general knowledge of what life looks like here.
I can say that as we write to you guys today, we are very optimistic about what God has in store for us through our time here. Our team is amazing, life is peaceful, and we are excited to reach out into our community at the beginning of this new season.
Thank you all for joining us in this journey this far!
