Disciples who make disciples.
We were back in Canada for our first home assignment. We had the opportunity to speak at seven different churches, visit fifteen different cities and towns across Québec, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, host four different Tea and Story nights, and sit down with so many of you!
Our first week was spent in Montreal, where a friend we’ve been walking with for a few years had recently given her heart to Christ. She asked if we could be there for her baptism, and we gladly were. It was the best possible way to start seven weeks that ended up being full of exactly that: watching God move in the lives of people we love.
Our main goal in coming back to Canada was to sit with the people and churches who support us. To tell you what God has been doing. Over and over this summer, we found ourselves encouraged by your excitement, and encouraged in turn by the stories we got to share—stories of people around us walking with Christ for the first time.
But now, we are back—in our own bed, our own living room, our neighbourhood, our local grocery store, our local bakery. We had tea with our upstairs neighbour today, and it felt like slipping straight back into our own life here. Baby K reunited with every street cat on the block and was overjoyed, especially now that he can walk right up to them on his own. We loved our time in Canada, but this is home.
With a new university semester starting, our residence permit renewals underway, and a fresh sense of what God has been doing in and around us, we’re walking into this next chapter with real excitement. We don’t want to stop language learning just because we are past our two-year mark. We want to dive even deeper and be more present in what God has in store for us here. We’re also stepping further into photography and videography, using it as a way to explore this country, meet people, and tell the kinds of stories that don’t get told any other way.
Our first two years (here) were meant for focusing on the language and culture, learning simply to live in a new country before trying to do much else. Fortunately, even through that season, we saw God move in incredible ways, and we had the opportunity to walk with curious and hungry people.
We’re looking forward to starting our regular Bible study back up at our home now that we’re settled again. We are so excited to be with our friends again and live out Acts 2:42, where it says, “they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
